my extra curricular activities...
ending up not being that extra curricular after all!
A few months ago, fully aware of how full my schedule was (and still is...), I decided to participate in some fun long distance art exchange projects! So far not only I've not regretted these commitments, I have found the time spent working on my promised contributions extremely rewarding, a brilliant exercise to "recharge" while enjoying every moment of it!
I recommend it to all my artists friends as a way for a change of "landscape", an opening towards new horizons, a good excuse to let go and have some fun!
The greatest thrill though has been receiving the artworks created by the other participants: a fantastic, exhilarating, super "high" experience!
The project is "the littlest print exchange", the print in the photographs is my 3 x 3" entry (x 50), a digital archival pigment print and chinese ink stamp, signed and numbered. I hope you'll visit the site and check on all the amazing works created and shared so generously by the fellow participants.

I lurve this itty bitty piece (I have a soft spot for oriental chops - so I'm predisposed to like this!)
ReplyDeleteguess what: no, no, don't guess! Just check the mail....
DeleteLove it, love it, love it. Wish I'd seen this as I might have had a go. I love the small , square format. Will have to go and see the rest of them!
ReplyDeleteLesley, in a couple of months it's going to be the next 2013 littlest print exchange; why not join then?
DeleteWow--that looked like fun! And I like your miniature print--an evocative 3"x3".
ReplyDeleteOver the years, I've discovered--much to my surprise--that some of my own best work has come out of exchanges or mixed shows with a theme, working on topics I wouldn't necessarily have picked on my own. It is indeed a great way to recharge....not to mention that thrill you mention of getting the others' work! This looks like it was a great project. Thanks for letting us know about it.
I agree about joining a small exchange of some sort.. I am in an envelope and tag exchange.. small creative bouts of mail art to send and to receive. I love your books very much.. I finally started my first hand made book... though I am using a blank journal.. not ready to tackle how to actually make the book..
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a really good project and I am glad that you have found it very inspiring and rewarding.
