old traces...

Shapes derived from symbols embedded in my personal history, memories of what these symbols represented in my childhood, a mushroom spore print marking a special paper -special because of the message scribbled in its back...-, these are the ingredients composing my "old traces" structure I assembled recently.

  1. Beautiful Anna! That mushroom spore is quite superb. Is it an etching?

    1. Thanks Amanda; the mushroom spore print is a monotype made by the spores (imprint) of a mushroom!!!
I will post a tutorial on how to one of these days...

  2. I was admiring the mushroom too. And how you combine such disparate things and make them flow so well together.

    1. Thank you Lesley; in most cases it feels as if the composition comes together on its own; somehow the pre-prepared papers suggest what they should become...

  4. I love that mushy print - is it a true spore print? (ie the mushroom is placed on top of the paper and the spores drop to form the print? like work by chris drury?) its really pretty however it was achieved!

    1. Yes Ronnie, it is a true spore print! I LOVE doing these and this particular one was the last promising mushroom of a batch! I noticed it and I was too lazy to retrieve one more piece of paper, so I placed it over two adjoining papers already matched with their mushrooms... that's why you see it in two halves!
