PrintHouston: NEXT
a national biennial exhibition of original prints, juried by Dr. Dena M. Woodall,
Assistant Curator of Prints and Drawings, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
my award winning: "urban after hours" |
I am very proud to have had my work juried in this show, among a selection of works by artists showcasing the very best in printmaking today.
NEXT was housed in the beautiful 4411 Montrose gallery complex and part of PrintHouston summer festival, a celebration of printmaking through shows, workshops, lectures, demonstrations across the city of Houston.
The selected works (36 from 300 entires) represented a vast number of printmaking techniques, from classic woodcuttings, intaglio, etchings, to monotypes, modern photo-etching methods, digital generated images, etc., on surfaces including paper, plastic, glass and in both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional works.
Although NEXT has closed, the printmaking summer extravaganza in Houston is still on, with shows and happenings running until September. PrintHouston is sponsored by PrintMatters an organization formed and run by a group of printmakers whose love and vision and belief for the genre has shown that artists can not only create fantastic works, but also miracles: this incredible renaissance of printmaking in Houston!
Don't those photos make this event look inviting. Congratulations on being selected Anna. It sounds and looks like a fascinating 'all round' experience to be part of.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Anna - you work looks wonderful here and is totally deserving of its place. I love the idea of celebrating printmaking across the city like this as well - fabulous!
