"in exile"
This is a book on a very emotional subject, very close to my heart. It is my first attempt to design and construct a book presenting the exiled caryatid... I am planning to do a couple of variations, most probably altering color scheme and introducing text. Hopefully one day I will have the opportunity to make one more book for her, celebrating her return to her homeland!
Before being removed and taken to England by Lord Elgin (part of his Parthenon loot), her place was by her sisters on the south portico of the Erechtheion temple, at the Athens Acropolis. She stood there for over 2,000 years. For the last 200 years she stands all alone, at the British Museum in London.
