"in exile"

This is a book on a very emotional subject, very close to my heart. It is my first attempt to design and construct a book presenting the exiled caryatid... I am planning to do a couple of variations, most probably altering color scheme and introducing text. Hopefully one day I will have the opportunity to make one more book for her, celebrating her return to her homeland!
Before being removed and taken to England by Lord Elgin (part of his Parthenon loot), her place was by her sisters on the south portico of the Erechtheion temple, at the Athens Acropolis. She stood there for over 2,000 years. For the last 200 years she stands all alone, at the British Museum in London.

in progress...

A new version of the lily fold using two different colored papers / two different sizes, folded together. The smaller square on the outside, the larger on the inside. I will keep trying...

paper lily: a book!

A small " book" I made yesterday. A very simple origami fold, I used Rives lightweight paper and I bound cardstock with lacy handmade paper for the cover. I love its sculptured form; now I have to figure out a way to introduce content...
